Blackcurrant
The blackcurrant is a 1 – 1,5 m tall schrub. Berry is black and fleshy. Harvesting season starts in the midsummer.
In food industry blackcurrants are used to produce juice, jam, dried berries and berry powders as well as to grain and dairy products. By-product fractions in berry processing are suitable for example for animal feed and cosmetic applications.
Blackcurrant is rich in fibre and contains vitamin C and K. Blackcurrant is also good source of potassium and contains lots of anthocyanin.
Blackcurrants of Kiantama come from berry farms where the berries have been grown responsibly and with respect for nature. Depending of the harvest season and availability blackcurrants are from neighboring countries or of Finnish origin. Berries are also available in organic quality depending on the product range.
